Dianne Looney, 67, of Ripley died Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Jackson General Hospital following a four-month illness.
Born May 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jesse Lewis Board.
She was a graduate of Ripley High School, Class of 1960. She was a graduate of Marshall University, Class of 1964, and retired from the Jackson County Board of Education, where she taught for 33 years at Ripley High School. She was honored three times by Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers’ sorority.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Secretary of the Church Council, custodian and was a member of the Chancel Choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Jackie Parsons Withrow, grandson Michael Austin Miller, and nephews Jeffrey and Douglas Parsons.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dave Looney, daughter Beth Looney Miller (Mike), grandson Hunter Miller, nephews Bruce and Don Parsons, and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
She especially enjoyed her pride and joy Hunter and watching him play soccer. She enjoyed church work, Marshall University football, her two dogs and cats, reading, and most deeply, her extended family and friends.
Service will be Wednesday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Deane officiating. Burial will be in Jones family cemetery. Friends may visit the family Tuesday, November 10, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Epworth UMC Memorial Committee or the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department.
