Audra "Belle" (Cleek) Raines
Feb. 25, 1917 - Apr. 3, 2015
Audra Belle Cleek Raines, 98, died peacefully at her home in Kenna on Friday April 3rd. She released the heart and hands of her children and took the hand of her Lord and Savior and entered into eternal rest.
Belle was born February 25, 1917, the daughter of Otis Otmer Cleek and Elizabeth Skeen Cleek. She would be the last living child of the eight children born to the Cleek family.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Edyth Raines Parsons, Grace Anderson Williams, Delsie Profitt, Waynita Harris and brothers John Cleek, Corby Cleek, and Carroll Cleek. She survived her husband of 66 years, Hobert L. Raines as well as three sons, an infant son, Jackie, Gene Raines, and Paul Raines and two grandchildren, Joshua and Brianna Raines.
Belle is survived by her daughters, Glenis Boyce (the late Cecil Boyce) of Kenna WV, Patty Wilson (Harvey) of Vienna WV, Carrie Dado (Joe) of Columbus OH., Dorothy Hodges (Jim), of Kenna WV, Karen Rhodes (Jerry), of Ripley WV and sons David (Louise McAllister) of Kenna WV and Dannie (Linda Santonocito) of Bradenton FL. She is also survived by her two daughters' in law, Patti (Casto) Raines, Evans WV and Jo Ann (Landfried) Raines, Ripley WV.
Her devotion as a mother was gently felt by each of her children, as she raised and nurtured them from infancy to adulthood. The reciprocal love of mother and child was apparent throughout the lives of her children, and is being passed to future generations as a testament to the remarkable woman she was. Her influence will be felt as values, stories, and talents are passed to future generations.
Belle was member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley. Faith was foremost in her daily living and she shared that faith with her family.
Belle was blessed with twenty grandchildren: Shirley Boyce Hudson, Charlotte Boyce Wilson, Gina Raines Wilson, Nolan Raines, Andrew Raines, Kimberly Brock Farrah, Jay Brock, Greg Brock, Jody Dado, Nina Dado Casa, Michael Hodges, Brandon Hodges, Sarah Raines, Erin Raines Matson, Rebecca Raines Blake, Margaret Raines George, Tosha Raines Ecker, and Jeremy Rhodes.
Her legacy includes twenty nine great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
Belle was blessed to live in her home, where she had been raised, and where she had raised her children. She died at the home where she had lived and loved her entire life. The care and attention she received from her family and wonderful caregivers allowed her this privilege.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to three caregivers who thru the past years have cared for Belle: Sally Antal, Dorothy Blankenship and Pam Workman. These three are truly wonderful, remarkable women, with hearts of kindness, compassion, patience, and perseverance.
Belle was also fortunate to have had wonderful home care, as well as medical care from Dr. John Snyder, Amedisys Home Health Care providers and the Southern Jackson County EMT staff. We thank you all, each one for your professionalism and kindness during Belle's final days.
One of Belle's favorite phrases was to greet you during a telephone call with: "You got your work all done?" Well on April 3rd she received her call that: "Your work's all done. The time has come to leave everyone. Time to meet your Master and begin your eternal rest, your work is done, and your works have been many and very good."
Rest in peace, our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, mother in law, aunt and friend. You may not be with us for now, but you will always remain in our hearts, our lives and our memories.
Visitation will be Monday, April 6th from 4 until 8 pm, at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 at Waybright Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Raines and Rev. Terry Deane conducting the Service.
Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery in Kentuck WV.
