Betty Mae (Frashier) Buck
Betty M. Buck, 75, of Ripley, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 20, 1928, at Ripley, a daughter of the late Gay and Lelia Landfried Frashier. She was a teacher for many years in the Jackson County School System, having taught at Gilmore High School, Ripley High School and the Arch Moore Vocational Technical School. She also taught classes at West Virginia University and Marshall University. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, GFWC Womans Club, West Virginia Education Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. After retiring, Betty enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest Buck; a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Tonya Buck of Georgetown, Ky.; daughters and sons-in-law, Jolea and Danny Martin and Jill and Keith Rake of Ripley; grandchildren, Hamilton and Grant Rake, Chelsea and Jordan Martin and Alexis, Madison and Tyler Buck; brothers, Lee Garrett of Ripley, Jim Frashier of Gay; sisters, Shirley Barnette of Ripley, Bonnie Wells of Sandyville and Linda Bennett of Ravenswood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Junior Frashier, Jim Garrett and Ricky Garrett.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Epworth United Methodist Church, corner of North and Church streets, Ripley, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Krimmel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church Building Fund, corner of North and Church streets, Ripley, WV 25721.
