Clifford Noyes Walker

    Clifford Noyes Walker, 95, of Ripley, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston following an extended illness.

    Mr. Walker was born May 9, 1916 near Harmony, West Virginia, son of the late John Oley and Lucy Noyes Walker. He was a 1936 graduate of Walton High School. He was a career Union Pipefitter and also worked as a driller in the oil and gas industry. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 495, Cambridge, Ohio, the Lions Club and Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Thelma, in 1998. Also preceding  him in death were: Daughter, Joyce Walker; Sons, Leslie Walker and Clifford Mark Walker; Brothers, Curtis Walker and Chester “Nate” Walker; Granddaughter, Sonja Bumgarner Chattin.

    Surviving: Daughters, Karen Bumgarner (Harold) of Vienna,WV, Sharon Davis (William) of Parkersburg, WV, and Brenda Street (Stan)  of  Louisville, KY; Brother, John Walker of St. Albans; Sisters, Frances Hays of Boaz, WV and Blondena Slaughter of Florida.  He is survived by seven  grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with John Gunther officiating. Interment will follow at the Shady Dale Cemetery, near Harmony, Roane County.

    Friends called at the funeral home Monday evening from 5-8 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Walker’s memory should be made to the Shady Dale Cemetery Fund, c/o Connie Cummings, Walton, WV. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
