FOOD MINISTRY
The goal of the Food Ministry is to reach out to those who have not experienced the love of Jesus as expressed in the words, “Feed my sheep”.
Over the years the Epworth UMC Food Pantry has developed a sustainable program to distribute groceries to people in our community experiencing food insecurity. The generous giving of the church congregation along with supplemental gifts and grants have made this possible.
When Jesus said “Feed my sheep” he referred to more than merely feeding the body of those in need. As Christians we are called to literally and spiritually nourish all in need and to share the Gospel; that is the purpose of the new Food Ministry. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Donations to the new Food Ministry will support an evangelical outreach program to fulfill Epworth’s mission: To share with all the transforming love of Jesus Christ. When you give to the Food Ministry you will be supporting our full mission to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
Food Ministry …….
… is outreach and evangelism
… communicates God’s love
… feeds Jesus’ lambs
… feeds food-hungry people
… touches soul-hungry people
… is a conversation starter with people we don’t know
… unifies willing workers of all ages (volunteers)
… calls the lost to a church home
… allows hands-on involvement in spreading Jesus’ love
Examples of Food Ministry already in place: weekly meals to Bomar; Come to the Table meals; Canopy Events; Adopt-A-Family invitations; monthly meals from our kitchen; Trunk or Treat and more.
