Goldie Gail (Nutt) Ludwig

RIPLEY - Goldie Gail Nutt Ludwig, 94, former resident of Ritchie County, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley following complications from a recent illness. She was born May 5, 1908, at Washborn, Ritchie County, a daughter of the late David H. and Rosa May Moats Nutt.
She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, were she gave 50 years of service.
In 1960, she was Ripley's Mother of the Year and was nominated by the Ripley Junior Women's Club as West Virginia's Mother of the Year. She was active in a number of community organizations such as the Athletic Boosters Club which purchased the first score board at Rpley High School in 1950. She had also earned a 50 year pin from Rebecca Lodge and was a member of Eastern Star Lodge where she had held several offices.
She is survived by three sons, Delbert C. (Lydia) Ludwig, Jr. and Max R. (Peggy) Ludwig, both of Ripley, and Robert L. (Britt) Ludwig of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Steven C. (Vikki) Ludwig of Edmonds, OK, Paul A. Ludwig of Dunbar, Mike (Jill) Ludwick of Evans, Scott Ludwig of Ravenswood, Matthew (Valerie) Ludwig of Abingdon, VA, Kelley (Joe) Ludwig Matusic Of Teays Valley, and Perry Ludwig of Chapel Hill, NC; great-granchildren, David and Margaret "Maggie" Ludwig of Edmonds, OK, Allison and Tyler Ludwig of Evans, Brooks Ludwig of St. Marys, Mitchell and Ellie Ludwig of Abingdos, VA, Lauen, Kelsey, Joseph and William Matusic of Teays Valley. She is survived by seven nieces, Leona Bolton of East Liverpool, OH, Maxine Hichman and Rose Metz of Parkersburg, Donnal May Weaver of Columbus, OH, Juanita Weekley of Pennsboro, and Opal Weekly of Vienna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert C. Ludwig; four brothers and two sister.
Her body is at Vail Funeral Home in Ripley. Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vail Funeral Home and Friday, September 13, 2002, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be Friday, September 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley with the burial at Pine Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Epworth Church Building Fund or Methodist Women.
