Harlan Wallace “Slim” Casto, Jr.

    Harlan Wallace “Slim” Casto, Jr., 89, of Evans, WV, passed away March 26, 2013, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.

    He was born October 7, 1923, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Harlan W., Sr. and Dollie (Parsons) Casto. His wife, Marjorie (Sayre) Casto, also preceded him in death.

    He was a World War II United States Navy veteran and served as a Navy Aviation Electrician in the Pacific Theater stationed in Pearl Harbor. He was a retired farmer and cattleman and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley.

    He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Ripley Lodge #16 AF & AM, Nemesis Temple Shrine, and American Legion Post #107, Ripley. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

    Survivors include a son, G. W. “Bo” and his wife, Cyndi Casto, of Evans, daughter, Lucky Lee and her husband, Richard H. Murdock, of West Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, David H. Murdock, Michael (Ronele) Murdock, DeVonna Casto, and Seth Wallace (Samantha) Casto; great-grandchildren, Brittany L. Murdock, Brandon H. Murdock, Chase H. Murdock, Cameron Wallace Allen Casto, and McKinze Kaylynn Casto; step grandson, Aaron (Brenda) Wix, and step great grandchildren, Ethan Wix and Ella Wix.

    Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with John Gunther officiating.

    Burial will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery, Evans with military honors by American Legion Post #107.

    Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
