JoAnne Belle (Kerns) Landfried
JoAnne Belle Kerns Landfried, 70, of Ripley died July 29, 2002, at Cedar Ridge Center after a long series of illnesses.
She was born Aug. 22, 1932, at Braxton County, a daughter of Winnie Bowyer Kerns of Ripley and the late Charles William Kerns.
She taught school for 23 years at Ripley and Ravenswood and, along with her husband, owned Landfried Insurance Agency in Ripley. She will always be remembered for her service to the community as leader of the Jackson County Pilot Club where she served as a member, past president and district governor. She attended the Friendship and Loyalty Circles at Epworth United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Landfried; adopted children, Nancy and David; sisters, Patricia Pate of Ripley and Mary Sue Carr and her husband Cyril I. Carr of Levittown, Long Island; two nieces, Christy Lane Hanks Quinland of Huntington, Long Island and Patricia Lynn Pate Galligan of Fayetteville, N.C.; and two grandnieces Taylor and Vanessa Quinland of Huntington, Long Island.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley, with Rev. Dr. Ken Krimmel and the Rev. Elizabeth Walker officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. The family suggests donations in Jo Anne's memory may be made to the Habitat for Humanity or the Jackson County Ministerial Association.
