Margaret Andolee Parsons, 91, of Ripley passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Eldercare of West Virginia in Ripley following a long illness.
Margaret was born April 20, 1917, in Spencer, WV. She was the daughter of the late Peter S. Criss, Sr., and Naomi Wright Criss. Her stepmother was Vinnie Criss. She was a graduate of Spencer High School and a member of the United Memorial Methodist Church of Spencer, where she was a member of the choir.
After her marriage to her late husband, Talmadge C. Parsons, Jr., she moved to Ripley. Upon the death of her husband in 1969, she was employed by the O.J. Morrison Department Store as a secretary and bookkeeper until her retirement.
She was a member of the Ripley Epworth Methodist Church for sixty-seven years and was a Charter Member of the United Methodist Women, Royalty Circle and the Golden Run Sunday School Class.
Margaret was a Charter Member (1947) of the Spencer American Legion Auxiliary where she held the distinguished honor of devotional leader with the National President. She later became a member of the Ripley Auxiliary Post #107.
Margaret was a member of the Ripley Order of Eastern Star, Paradise Rebecca Lodge #109, and Ripley Senior Citizens. She worked as a volunteer for the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary since 1965. Margaret had a happy family life and will be remembered for her volunteer work and giving spirit.
She is survived by sons T.C. Parsons, III, of Hendersonville, TN, and David A. Parsons of Crestview, FL; grandchildren Whitney Page, Kelly Hamilton, Clayton Parsons and Lucy-Allen Parsons; great-grandchildren Emily Rollins, Elani Hamilton, Carter Hamilton, and Tessa Hamilton; and step-great-grandchildren Brandon Page, Megan Page and Colin Page.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by brothers Cecil Criss, Norville Criss, Ray Criss and Peter S. Criss, Jr.; sisters Luellla Daugherty and Mary Katherine Dudley; stepbrothers Ondrel Yenne and Edward Yenne; and stepsister Eunice Bosco.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2008, at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley with Reverend Dr. Ken Krimmel officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
