Michael LeeRoy Sandy
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

Michael LeeRoy Sandy, 61, of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away Aug. 20, 2012, at Ravenswood Village, Ravenswood, W.Va.

He was born Oct. 26, 1950 in Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of Donald Sandy and Violet McClead Sandy. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley. He was a teacher in Ravenswood schools for 31 years and was retired. He enjoyed golfing and watching the New York Yankees and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Sandy of Ravenswood, W.Va.; mother, Violet Hill of Williamstown, W.Va.; son, Mark E. Parsons and wife Sarah of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Kim Eldridge and husband Barry of Las Cruces, N.M. and Paula Bostic and husband Bobby of Kenna, W.Va.; brother, Jack Sandy; sisters, Mary Soder, Becky Proctor, Judy Williams, Joyce Callahan, Diane Duckworth and Michelle Sandy; grandchildren, Samantha Eldridge, Robbie, Ryne and Tivoli Bostic, Markie, Mattie, MacKinley and Morgan Parsons; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Donald Sandy, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Sandy.

Funeral service will be Thursday, 2 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va. with Minister John Gunther officiating. Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the time of the service.
