Ron "Jum" Walker

Ron "Jum" Walker, 64, of Ripley passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 16, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born October 13, 1951 at Roane County, WV, a son of the late George and Sybil Hammack Walker.

Ron was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force. Following his service he became a Ground School Instructor for Piedmont and U.S. Airways with 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and very musically talented, especially on the guitar. He enjoyed building model airplanes and cheering on his favorite team, the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge #692, Charlotte, NC.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Cleta Jones Walker; sons Aaron Walker of Winston Salem, NC and Chris Walker (Alicia Hendrix) of Roanoke, VA, and their mother, Karen Walker of Mooresville, NC; Brothers John Walker (Mary) of Charleston and Charles "Dood" Walker (Lin) of Mineral Wells; Sisters Joyce Johnson (Richard) of Sissonville and Lois Fields (Alan) of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, George Walker, Jr.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Teresa Deane officiating. Friends may call on the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial with Military and Masonic Rites will be at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.

While flowers are appreciated, donations in Ron's memory can be made to Kanawha Hospice, 1606 Kanawha Blvd, Charleston, WV 25387.
