Ruby T (Johnson) Martin

RIPLEY - Ruby T. Martin, 89 of Ripley, wife of W.R. "Red" Martin, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, following a long illness.

She was born Feb. 22, 1914, the daughter of Alfred and Alpha Johnson of Hugheston, W.Va., and lived many years in Boone County (Highcoal, Whitesville and Sylvester).

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Nancy Davis of South Carolina; son, R. David "Butch" Martin of Richmond, Va.; three grandsons, William Scott Davis, Andrew Martin and Nicholas Reid Martin. Surviving sisters are Dolores Stinnett of Georgia, Phyllis Jean Mathis of Florida, Rosalie Dransfield of 0hio, Pauline Puckett of Hugheston, Charlotte Henderson and Louise Himes of Delaware.

Ruby was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, W.Va., GFWC-Woman's Club of Ripley and enjoyed ceramic crafting. She was a graduate of Charleston Beauty College and was a licensed beautician until she was past 80 years of age. She had shops in both Ravenswood and Ripley.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley with Dr, Kenneth Krimmel officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens at Cottageville, W.Va.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vail Funeral Home of Ripley.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 299 N. Church St., Ripley, WV 25271.
