RIPLEY – Sylvia Almira Brown, 77 of Ripley went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2011 at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born June 18, 1933 at Republic, WV a daughter of the late Booker Howell and Gracie Holstein Howell Johnson. She was a homemaker, attended Epworth United Methodist Church and loved watching and feeding animals especially deer and birds.
She is survived by her children David Brown and his wife Debbie of Reading, PA and Donna King and her husband Jack of Marmet; sisters Rosalie Stout and Arbutus “Bobbie” Howell Johnson both of Columbus; grandchildren Susan Mullins and her husband Rusty, Trevor Brown, and Austin Brown and one great grandchild Haylee Mullins. Also survived by special friends Kerry and Jackie Casto and their children, whom she thought of like grandchildren, Holly, Tony and Karli Casto.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Brown; Brothers Herbert, Charley, Vernon and Robert Howell and Sidney Johnson and sister Rethel Carpenter.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Entombment will be at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Friends may call two hours prior to the service (11am until 1 pm) at the funeral home. A reception for family and friends will take place at the Parsons-Vail Family Center located at the Waybright Funeral Home upon returning from the committal service at the cemetery.
