Thomas “Thom” Owen Stone

Thomas “Thom” Owen Stone passed away August 10, 2009, at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Okey E. and Anna Burns Stone, first wife and mother of his children Mary Helen Stone, son Thomas “Tommy” Stone, II, and his late wife Elaine Kessel Stone.

Thom was born June 29, 1929, at Belpre, OH.  He was a graduate of Ripley High School and attended Marshall College.  He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Ann Stone; grandchildren Laura Ann Priddy of Ft. Worth, TX, Rachel Stone and Andrew Stone of Parkersburg; special daughter-in-law Dr. Dixie Lee Vaughn of Parkersburg; and very dear friend Lois Winters of Ripley.

Prior to his retirement from the Department of Highways, he owned and operated several businesses in Ripley.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, August 15, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. 

A memorial service to celebrate Thom’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley, with Pastor Terri Deane officiating.
