Jackson News
A. Jean Triplett of Ripley died September 27, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a 3-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born December 16, 1949 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Jennings and Helen Triplett. She was a 1967 graduate of Ripley High School where she was in the high school band, Miss Freshman, and a high school cheerleader.
She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir. She once worked for C-98 Radio as an advertising representative, she was a representative of a fraternal organization where she enjoyed meeting with the different chapters and organizing summer camps for boys and girls, and most recently she was a rental property manager.
She was creative, a beautiful singer, and a good cook. She liked karaoke, line dancing, oldies music and an occasional cruise on the cruise ship where son Derrick worked as a sound technician. She had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by two sons: Stephen W. Kelley, Jr. (Teresa) and Derrick W. Shaffer, both of Ripley. A third son, Donny Shaffer preceded her in death. Also surviving are a sister, Celia Parrish (Larry) of Millwood and a brother, Johnny Triplett (Leah) of Ravenswood. She was a grandmother and loved and was very proud of her grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no formal memorial service. The family wishes to thank everyone for all their love and kindness to Jeanie during her illness and for coming to and supporting the recent benefit where her life was celebrated with fellowship and music. She was loved and will be missed but not forgotten.
